Coat Button in Esophagus

Extraction Case

Shiny objects are attractive to toddlers and thus might be likely to be choking hazards. This coat button, embedded with rhinestones, was more difficult to remove from the esophagus than a coin, but caused no permanent damage.

Did You Know?!

For every choking-related death, an estimated 110 children are treated in hospital emergency departments for non-fatal choking.[Ref:43]
